Connect processes
Show that one process runs or starts another, so next steps and courses follow the item across them.
Real work crosses processes: a release runs QA regression and waits for it, then starts the release notes and carries on. Connect them so Ovenbird follows the item from one process into the next, and Learn links their courses.
Connect from the Processes page
- Open More → Details on the process.
- Under Connected processes, pick the other process and how it's used:
- Optionally say at which step (for example "Ship") and click Add.
- runs it and waits: this process can't continue until the other one is done. - starts it and carries on: a handoff; both continue.
Connect in the Builder
In the Studio, add a Sub-process step and choose the Connected process. Then choose Wait until it's done, then continue or Start it and carry on (a handoff). See Decisions, paths, loops and sub-processes.
Where connections show
- On the process cards: "↪ Runs", "⇢ Starts" and, on the other card, "↩ Part of".
- In next steps, which follow the item into the connected process.
- In Learn, where the course overview lists Connected processes with a link to each course.
