Course templates
Choose how courses look and how they're written: Clear, Corporate, Friendly or Microlearning.
A template sets a course's colours, its layout and its writing style. It applies in Learn and in packages you download for your LMS. Owners and admins choose templates; everyone else takes the courses as they are.
The four templates
| Template | Look | Writing style |
|---|---|---|
| Clear | Ovenbird's own look: clean and light | Plain and direct |
| Corporate | Navy, serif headings, a banner header, square cards | Formal and precise, for regulated or corporate audiences |
| Friendly | Warm orange, big rounded cards, chunky progress steps | Conversational and encouraging, good for onboarding |
| Microlearning | Green, one narrow column, large type, progress as dots | Very short and to the point, for learning on the go |
Set the default for every course
Go to Manage → Workspace and choose a Course template. Every course without its own template uses it.
Give one course its own template
Open the course in Learn. In its header, click 🎨 and the template's name, then choose one. Workspace default puts it back on the default.
Good to know
- A different writing style means the course is written again. The first time a course is opened in a new template it takes about a minute, then it's instant. The facts always come from the process document; only the wording changes.
- Progress carries over. What people have learned and their trained status stay. Practice questions in a new style are new questions, so stage scores fill in again as people practise.
- LMS packages use the course's template. Download the package again after changing it. See Use a course in your LMS (SCORM).
