Decisions, paths, loops and sub-processes
The Flow steps for processes that branch, run in parallel, repeat or hand off.
The Flow · process logic group in the palette has the steps that shape the process.
Decision
A question with paths, for example "Is it a hotfix?". Under How paths are chosen:
- One path: take the one that applies.
- Every path that applies: do all that apply, then continue.
- Whichever happens first: wait, and the first event decides.
Each path has a condition and a Then: Continue after it, End the process (with an outcome), or go to another stage or step. Mark one as the Otherwise path for when no condition fits. Drop steps into a path's lane to do them only on that path.
Parallel paths
Work that happens at the same time, ideally by different people. Under Continue when: All paths are done or The first path is done.
Loop
Steps that repeat until a condition, for example "until QA passes", with Most rounds and what happens When the limit is reached.
Sub-process
Another process this one uses. Choose the Connected process (or "One that isn't in Ovenbird yet…") and Wait until it's done, then continue or Start it and carry on (a handoff). See Connect processes.
End
Ends the process with an Outcome, for example Resolved, Rejected or Cancelled.
Also in the group: Approval, Wait / timer and Handoff.
