Embed a checklist on your website
Add a "Show checklist" button to your website or tool, only on the websites you allow.
You can show a process checklist inside another website or tool, for example your help center or an internal portal. Owners and admins set it up.
Get the code
- Open the process in Design → Studio (or use ✎ Edit workflow on its card in Processes) and go to the Runbook tab.
- Click 🔗 Share link and turn on Anyone with the link.
- Under Embed on a website, type the websites allowed to show it, separated by commas, and click Save.
- Click Copy code and paste it into your page where the button should appear.
The code looks like this:
<script src="https://ovenbird.tech/embed.js" data-runbook="…" data-label="Show checklist"></script>
On your page it becomes a Show checklist button. Clicking it opens the checklist in a side panel; Esc, the × or a click outside closes it.
Allowed websites
| Type | Allows |
|---|---|
help.acme.com | That site only |
*.acme.com | Every site under acme.com, such as help.acme.com and portal.acme.com |
http://localhost:3000 | A local test site |
You can list up to 20. On any website that isn't listed, browsers refuse to show the checklist. With an empty list, it can't be shown inside any website.
Note: acme.com doesn't cover help.acme.com. Add the exact site, or use *.acme.com.
Options
Change the code to adjust it:
data-label="Open the steps"changes the button text.data-view="workflow"shows the workflow diagram instead of the checklist (choose Workflow under Links open and the code includes it). The button then reads "Show workflow".data-mode="inline"shows the checklist directly on the page instead of behind a button.data-height="800px"sets the height of the inline checklist (default 640px;80vhalso works).
Good to know
- It shows the published version, in your workspace's language. Republishing updates every embed.
- Stop sharing turns off every embed at once.
- The list controls where the checklist can appear, not who can read it: anyone who has the link can still open it directly. Embed only processes that are fine to be public.
