The Runbook tab
The process as a numbered checklist to work through, and how to export it.
Open a process in the Studio and click Runbook. It's the draft written as numbered steps to follow top to bottom, and it updates whenever the board changes: a preview of what you're editing. To read the version people follow, see View a published process.
What's in a runbook
- Use it when, Starts when and the Process owner.
- The stages, each with its owner and when it's done.
- Numbered steps (sub-steps like 3.1 inside paths and loops) with who does them, the tool, the time limit, what they need and produce, when they're done, what to do if they're late, and notes.
- Decisions as "go to step 4" or "go to stage 2" links; loops as "Repeat until … (at most N rounds)"; connected processes as "Run the process … and wait until it's done" or "Start the process … and carry on".
- Not covered here: what's out of scope.
Each step has a tick box for working through it. Ticks aren't saved: they're for the page in front of you, or for printing.
The runbook is written in your workspace's language, so everyone reading it sees the same wording. Your own step text stays as you wrote it.
Export it
- Copy checklist: plain text to paste into Slack or a ticket.
- Download .md: a Markdown file with tick boxes, for GitHub, Notion or Confluence.
- Print / PDF: a clean printable page; choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog.
