What is Ovenbird?
Ovenbird tells people the next step of your team's documented process, for the ticket or issue in front of them.
Most teams have documented processes: how to triage a support ticket, how to sign off a release, how to handle a complaint. People still skip steps, because the document is long, hard to find in the middle of the work, and doesn't know what has already happened on this particular ticket.
Ovenbird reads both: your process document and the item's real context (the ticket, its replies and notes, linked Jira issues, related Slack threads and call notes). Then it tells you where the item is in the process and what to do next, in a few lines, with the source of every claim.
What you can do with it
- Ask: get the next step for a ticket or Jira issue, or ask how something works ("how do I escalate a billing bug?"). See Get the next step on a ticket or issue.
- Learn: take a ten-minute course on any process, practise on realistic scenarios, and get short refreshers so it sticks. See Take a course.
- Design: describe a process, paste notes, or build it visually; Ovenbird checks it for gaps and bottlenecks and publishes it. See Design a new process.
- Runbooks: turn any process into a numbered checklist you can copy, print, share by link, or put on your own website. See The Runbook tab.
How Ovenbird answers
- Short first. You get the next step, what it means in one to three points, at most one heads-up, and "Do you know how to do it?". The detail is one click away.
- It asks before guessing. If a missing fact would change the next step (which environment it was tested on, whether something was already sent), it asks you one to three quick questions first.
- It never writes messages for you. It won't draft customer replies. For a contact step it tells you what the message has to achieve. The only text it writes is an internal note for the ticket, recording what you did.
- Your document is the default path. If the item's context shows a newer, explicit decision, the answer can follow it, and it says so.
- Everything is cited. Quotes are checked word for word against the source; anything that can't be verified is dropped.
